The world of TRON continues

TRON: Ares Expands the Grid With High-Intensity Action and Stunt Work

The world of TRON returns in spectacular fashion with TRON: Ares, the long-awaited third installment in Disney’s iconic sci-fi franchise. Directed by Joachim Rønning, the film continues the groundbreaking visual legacy of TRON and TRON: Legacy, combining futuristic action, advanced visual effects, and large-scale stunt sequences to bring the digital world into reality.

Set years after the events of TRON: Legacy, the story follows Ares, a highly advanced program sent from the digital Grid into the real world on a dangerous mission — marking humanity’s first direct encounter with AI beings from the digital universe. The film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges returning as Kevin Flynn.

Behind the film’s sleek futuristic battles and high-speed action sequences is an extensive stunt team that helped bring the world of TRON to life. Among them is stunt performer Josh Mazerolle, whose work contributed to the film’s physically demanding action and motion-driven sequences. Production included large-scale practical stunt work, precision driving, wire performances, and complex physical choreography blended with the franchise’s signature visual style.

The film also continues TRON’s tradition of innovative music and visuals. This time, the score was created by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, delivering a darker industrial sound that matches the film’s cybernetic atmosphere.

After its theatrical release, TRON: Ares quickly found success on streaming platforms and is now available on Disney+, allowing audiences worldwide to return to the Grid and experience the next evolution of the TRON universe.
