The highly ambitious Chinese action–war thriller Operation Hadal brought together one of the largest production teams in recent years — and among them was the global stunt network Hitz International, contributing to the film’s action and fight-performance units.

Directed by Dante Lam, Operation Hadal follows the elite Jiaolong “Sea Dragons” Special Forces and China’s deep-sea submarine Longjing as they confront foreign mercenaries in a high-pressure under-water mission. Filmed in Qingdao with enormous purpose-built submarine sets, large-scale water tanks, and a crew that peaked at over 1,500 specialists, the production demanded sophisticated stunt design and international-standard action coordination.
This is where Hitz International came in. Known for its worldwide roster of stunt performers, fight coordinators, and second-unit action directors, the company contributed talent and expertise to the film’s practical action sequences. Their involvement supported the choreography, combat movement, and technical stunt execution that a large-scale naval film requires — from tight-quarters submarine encounters to dynamic military tactical sequences.
Bringing in an international stunt team also highlights a growing trend in Asian blockbuster filmmaking: merging local storytelling with global-level action design. For Operation Hadal, Hitz International’s participation helped elevate the film’s physical realism and gave the stunt department additional depth in choreography, safety planning, and high-pressure performance.
Despite mixed critical reception toward the final cut, Operation Hadal stands out as one of China’s most technically ambitious action productions — and the collaboration with Hitz International underscores the increasingly global nature of modern stunt teams and action filmmaking.
