Action veteran Johnny Yang joined the upcoming crime thriller The Rip as Fight Coordinator, working under acclaimed stunt coordinator Keith Woulard to help shape the film’s intense physical action and combat sequences.
Directed by Joe Carnahan, The Rip stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in a gritty story centered around a team of Miami police officers whose discovery of millions in hidden cash begins to fracture loyalty within the group. Known for hard-hitting films such as Narc, Smokin’ Aces, and The Grey, Carnahan’s directing style often emphasizes grounded, brutal action — making fight choreography and stunt execution a critical part of the production.
Serving as Fight Coordinator, Johnny Yang was responsible for helping design and oversee the film’s hand-to-hand combat sequences, tactical movement, stunt fights, and physical character interactions. Fight coordination requires close collaboration between directors, stunt performers, actors, and camera teams to create action that feels both realistic and cinematic while maintaining strict safety standards.
Yang has built an impressive career across film and television as a stunt performer, martial artist, actor, and fight coordinator. His credits include major productions such as John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Black Panther, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Avatar: The Way of Water, and The Last of Us. Known for his martial arts background and precision choreography, Yang has become one of the industry’s respected names in modern action filmmaking. (imdb.com)

With its powerhouse cast and experienced action team behind the scenes, The Rip is already generating strong anticipation among fans of gritty crime thrillers and practical stunt-driven action.
